Welcome to Cuebids Weekly: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, a new series highlighting some of the most interesting hands from the Cuebids weekly tournament.
For those unfamiliar, Cuebids is an online bridge bidding platform designed to help players improve their bidding skills through practice sessions and events. It is one of the most widely used bridge bidding websites, attracting players of all levels, including many world-class experts. Beyond providing opportunities for serious bidding practice, Cuebids also allows players to partner with people they may not regularly play with, making it a valuable tool for learning new systems, experimenting with partnership agreements, or simply enjoying a fun and casual session with friends and fellow bridge enthusiasts.
In this series, we will select the hands that stand out the most from each week's tournament and categorize them into three sections: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
The Good focuses on the outstanding bidding performances of the week. These are hands where players navigated the auction exceptionally well and were rewarded with the maximum score of 3 stars. We hope that this will be the largest category each week, reflecting the many excellent results achieved by participants.
The Bad includes hands where judgment errors, missed opportunities, or simple mistakes occurred. This section can also feature deals where the opponents went wrong as well (even though they are robots), since these hands can still highlight the unusual and sometimes weird situations that come up in the auction.
The Ugly comprises boards where misunderstandings occurred, unlucky layouts appeared, or the opponents’ auction was simply bizarre. These are the hands that make no sense at first glance, but are often the funniest of them all.

USA juniors Charlie Chen (bucky3000 on Cuebids) and Eric Xiao (ericxiao1 on Cuebids) collaborate on this series, combining their perspectives to review and analyze interesting hands from the weekly Cuebids tournaments.
