R64 picks, odds, and spreads Part 1

Below are the odds and spreads. Negative spreads indicate the team is favored.

Andresen vs. Ceta

Andresen: −55.5 | O/U: 211.5

Getting the chance to pick their opponents, this should not be too big of an obstacle for soccer player Martin Andresen’s team.

Team Sweden vs. Allard

Team Sweden: −9.5 | O/U: 205.5

This certainly feels like one of those 32nd vs. 33rd seed matches in the R64. It could certainly go either way, but I think Sweden would outlast the French.

Zimmermann vs. Gdansk

Zimmermann: −95.5 | O/U: 247.5

Zimmermann did not finish in the top 16, or even the top 32, meaning they had no chance to pick their opponents or prevent themselves from being picked. Of course, nobody in the top 16 would want to face them anyway. They ended up against the Polish juniors, who ranked higher than them in the Swiss after the rest of the matches were seeded. This should be a smooth ride for Pierre Zimmermann's squad.

SPS Kielce vs. Team Phoenix

SPS Kielce: −60.5 | O/U: 222.5

SPS Kielce generally has the more experienced players, and certainly having a six-handed squad with a sponsor works better than having a four-handed sponsor. Daniel Tylvad and Nikolaj “Pepe” Hammelev also are not playing together on Team Phoenix, which makes their lineup even less imposing. 

Periculo vs. Bakkeren

Periculo: −40.5 | O/U: 225.5

This seems like an already familiar matchup we’ve seen on vugraph. Periculo took down Bakkeren 60–22 in the fourth round, and I would expect them to do the same in the knockout stage. Bakkeren barely squeezed their way into the knockouts.

Rosenthal vs. Ardennes

Rosenthal: −38.5 | O/U: 212.5

While the French-Belgian team could prove to be a threat to the multiple-world-champion squad, I’d still expect Rosenthal to outlast them. Stay tuned, as the score could be closer than the spread suggests.

Alteris Nuclear vs. Hobra

Alteris Nuclear: −12.5 | O/U: 196.5

This is certainly a close one. With more experience on their side, I’d expect Alteris Nuclear to take it.

Knottenbelt vs. LOSS

Knottenbelt: −45.5 | O/U: 212.5

Fortunately for them, LOSS barely snuck into the R64. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends against the English.

Simson vs. Kupclub

Simson: −35.5 | O/U: 195.5

Simson has the stronger lineup on paper, but it might not be as easy for them as expected.

Group One vs. Gupta

Group One: −11.5 | O/U: 205.5

Both are sponsor-driven teams, so it’s not clear who takes this one. The Polish team has some very solid players and would still likely take the victory.

Goodman vs. Trick or Treat

Goodman: −45.5 | O/U: 196.5

Goodman has more knockout experience and is stronger on paper, with de Wijs, Muller, Meckstroth, and Berkowitz. Trick or Treat could be one of the dark horse teams of the tournament, however, given their strong performance overall in the Swiss.

China Open Team 1 vs. Patrick Saada

China Open Team 1: −22.5 | O/U: 213.5

Based on the Swiss results, China Open Team 1 would likely take this one, having beaten multiple top teams. Still, anything could happen in this match.

Lebowitz vs. Govit

Lebowitz: −57.5 | O/U: 198.5

Having already massacred Govit in the Swiss, Lebowitz chose them for the knockouts. I wouldn’t expect every set for Lebowitz to be a +50 IMP blowout against this team, though.

Dangers and a Hazard vs. Milanbridge

Dangers and a Hazard: −8.5 | O/U: 200.5

I’m not sure where I stand on this one, but Dangers and a Hazard likely have the edge.

Parker vs. Seoul

Parker: −6.5 | O/U: 197.5

Even with the double sponsor, Parker would likely outlast the four-handed Koreans, potentially due to factors such as experience.

Easy Street vs. Amanda

Easy Street: −47.5 | O/U: 208.5

While Amanda has a competitive team, Easy Street should take this one for sure.
